However, in our first episode we talked all about how we got into Buying and what subjects we studied. We promised we would share some similar courses, and as these aren't resources we thought we'd add these here....

Course 1

Fashion Buying with Merchandising BA (Hons) - De Montfort University

As stated on the DMU website; Learn to select garments for retailers to stock, alongside designing collections and ranges. Develop in-depth knowledge of the buying cycle and key activities around trading, reacting to sales and managing sales promotions. The merchandising pathway focuses on the numbers behind buying a fashion range, its selection process and strategic stock management.

In summary a course dedicated and derived around Retail Buying, i.e. everything you need to know! This course is also paired with Marketing or Design BA (Hons)

Course 2

Fashion Buying & Merchandising BA (Hons) - UAL London College of Fashion

As stated on the UAL website; This course focuses on Buying, Merchandising and associated roles, and suits students that have not only a passion for fashion but also flair for both numbers and product.

What makes this course different is its focus on sustainability which allows students to understand how important it is to think more consciously, giving them an opportunity make a real difference in the world.

Course 3

Fashion Design & Development BA (Hons) - UAL London College of Fashion

As stated on the UAL website;  This course provides creative, strategic and practical skills to prepare you for a career as a fashion product designer or developer.

This is a great innovative course which teaches students core manufacturing and research skills needed for product development.

Course 4

Fashion Design & Marketing - short course - UAL London College of Fashion

UAL offers various short courses that can be attended in the evenings or weekends. This is a great way to see if this is a career for you.

 

As detailed on the website; Understanding the market for fashion is an essential foundation stone for all those who are interested in carving out a successful career in the fashion design industry. This course offers an introduction to the subject. By the end of the course you will have a clearer idea of who your customers will be, and where your collections or products should be on sale.
